Online Check Processing
Another Innovative Tool from TMS to help merchants Increase Sales.

Electronic Check Processing, more formally known as ACH (Automated Clearing House) is a form of electronic payment. ACH is often confused with a wire transfer because it works in a similar fashion. However, unlike a traditional wire transfer, it can be used to process higher amounts, or for small payments which may settle from 3 to 4 business days.

Hundreds of companies and banks are turning to ACH processing when they need to offer direct debit options, manage direct payroll deposit, or for converting conventional paper checks. It is also effectively used for accepting checks online from a shopping cart or through the online terminal.

ACH transactions are resolved almost in the same way how checks are. The clearing house files all transactions daily categorized by where the check was cashed or deposited, totaling the amount, and credit or deduct all accounts accordingly.

TMS can provide you with many ACH options depending on your business type and needs, providing you with the most advanced processing solutions, backed up by our years of experience!
Electronic Check / ACH process for Merchants
Transaction is Created: To create a transaction or in other words, to solicit a charge from a customer, or to credit a customer the merchant logs onto TMS Virtual Terminal and enters customer information such as Name, Address, Amount of transaction, Routing Number, Check Number, and Bank Account Number.
Transaction is submitted to the Federal Reserve for Authorization: TMS submits the transaction information to the Federal Reserve Bank which allows for the fastest processing available. All transactions are stored in a database that is secured by the latest security and encryption standards and will be included on your monthly statement.
Note: once a transaction has been submitted, it cannot be canceled or modified.
Transaction is Cleared or Rejected: As soon as the transaction has cleared, the credit amount is deposited into the merchant’s checking account. Banks may still reject a transaction even after it has been cleared, which is known as a charge back. All returns or charge backs are resubmitted for payment.
TMS can work with you to minimize costs of returns and charge backs.
Due to the nature of the Federal Reserve and the structure of the banking industry, ACH transactions cannot be completed instantly, however, a typical ACH transaction completes within 3-4 business days.

Check Conversion
Electronic Check Conversion converts the information from a paper check into an electronic payment from the customer’s bank account. During this type of transaction, the customer waits as the merchant processes the check electronically. During the conversion, the information from the check is transmitted to the customer’s bank and other financial institutions in the form of an electronic fund transfer. The check is then given back to the customer before leaving. As a merchant, you receive faster payment with electronic check conversion compared to a traditional paper check, which has a two to three day floating period.

Authorize.Net Flow Chart
  1. The merchant submits a credit card transaction to the Authorize.Net Payment Gateway on behalf of a customer via a secure connection from a web site, a retail location, a MOTO center or a wireless device.

  2. Authorize.Net receives the secure transaction information and passes it via a secure connection to the Merchant Bank’s Processor.

  3. The Merchant Bank’s Processor submits the transaction to the Credit Card Interchange (a network of financial entities that communicate to manage the processing, clearing, and settlement of credit card transactions).

  4. The Credit Card Interchange routes the transaction to the customer’s Credit Card Issuer.

  5. The Credit Card Issuer approves or declines the transaction based on the customer’s available funds and passes the transaction results, and if approved, the appropriate funds, back through the Credit Card Interchange.

  6. The Credit Card Interchange relays the transaction results to the Merchant Bank’s Processor.

  7. The Merchant Bank’s Processor relays the transaction results to Authorize.Net.

  8. Authorize.Net stores the transaction results and sends them to the customer and/or the merchant. This communication process averages three seconds or less!

  9. The Credit Card Interchange passes the appropriate funds for the transaction to the Merchant’s Bank, which then deposits funds into the merchant’s bank account. The funds are typically deposited into your primary bank account within two to four business days.
Authorize.Net is a Payment Gateway service that allows you to accept credit cards and electronic check payments. It is quick, easy, affordable and can be used almost anywhere. TMS is offering merchants free point of sale credit card processing software. TotalPay Powered by Authorize.Net lets your Internet or mail order telephone order based businesses authorize, process, and manage credit card transactions with your online credit card processing software and hardware that is normally needed to process payments over the web. Authorize, process, and manage credit card transactions manually from any computer that has an Internet connection and a web browser. Automate credit card transactions directly from your web site, without complex hardware or software systems. Add an electronic check payment option to your web site or call center. Process credit card sales from any location with access to cellular service on almost any Internet-enabled handheld PDA (personal digital assistant) device.

The Authorize.Net credit card processing software, Virtual Terminal, is a secure, browser-based interface that enables businesses to authorize, process and manage credit card transactions from any computer that has an Internet connection and a Web browser. A virtual point of sale terminal replaces standard authorization terminals or POS software, and provides the best solution for merchants who manually enter credit card transactions for mail or phone order sales (MOTO).

Virtual Terminal suits businesses of all sizes because it reduces the complexity and expense normally associated with authorizing and processing credit card transactions. It's also much faster than standard dial-up authorization systems.

Businesses with an Authorize.Net account can simply access the Virtual Terminal through a secure Web site using any Web browser. After logging into their Authorize.Net account using a unique user ID and a password, merchants can access the complete range of Authorize.Net services -- authorizations for purchases, credits and returns, status and activity reports, and much more.

To authorize credit card transactions, the merchant completes an electronic form that provides the Authorize.Net system with the information it needs to complete the transaction. This information is encrypted using the latest 40 or 128-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) 3.0 technology and is sent to an Authorize.Net host server. The server then sends the data through the authorization network to the appropriate card issuer's bank using a secure, proprietary connection. When the process is complete -- this takes around three seconds -- the merchant receives an authorization number, and the Authorize.Net server stores the transaction. Transactions are automatically settled each day and are funded within two to four business days.

Merchants can also check the status of transactions, automatically bill customers for recurring charges or run a variety of reports right from the Authorize.Net Virtual Credit Card Processing Terminal Software. Authorize.Net is a secure online payment-processing system that allows Internet-based businesses to automate authorizations, process and manage credit card transactions directly from their Web site. There are no worries about the complicated software, hardware and expertise normally associated with enabling e-commerce. Authorize.Net acts as the credit card processing authorization payment gateway that interacts with a websites shopping cart. Authorize.Net works in one of two ways: It either captures the necessary customer information (name, credit card number, etc.) from a merchant’s own secure transaction page, or it displays a customizable transaction page hosted on an Authorize.Net secure server, for the customer to fill out.

Merchants can check the status of transactions or run reports on past activity by going to the Authorize.Net Web site and logging on to their own password-protected Authorize.Net site. And online businesses can use the Authorize.Net Virtual Terminal to enter payment information manually if customers prefer to call in their credit card information.

Linking a merchant's Web site to the Authorize.Net system is simple. The merchant's Web site designer or developer simply inserts a few lines of HTML code (which we provide) onto the transaction page. Authorize.Net supports most available shopping cart software, so it integrates easily with most e-commerce credit card processing solutions.
Point of Banking Systems
What are Point of Banking Systems?
Point of Banking systems are designed to work with your customer's bank and ATM/credit cards, giving them access to their cash and allowing them to spend more inside your store. Point of Banking machines are similar to standard credit card processing machines. The difference is the terminal is loaded with a custom software program so it only runs PIN based transactions with a small convenience fee that the cardholder pays. This fee serves to pay for the processing costs incurred.

Point of Banking Terminals run PIN based transactions (cardholder must use their PIN number) for dollar amounts in increments of $5 or $10. The amounts available are pre-set by the merchant so you can control the amount of cash that is kept at your register.

You can earn revenue with each transaction and there’s no cost to you for the equipment.
Simple to Use
You slide your customer's Bank/ATM card through the terminal and then your customer enters their PIN Number. You run the transaction for the next $5 or $10 increment amount above the amount of the customer's transaction.
What are the benefits of a Point of Banking System?

ATM Machines
Why own an ATM Machine?

Because 70% of Americans now use an ATM debit card, a credit card, or a VISA check card. Customers are relying on their credit cards for their every day purchases, large and small, including at gas stations, convenience stores, movie theatres, restaurants and malls.

Customers appreciate the convenience of an ATM to access their bank accounts whenever they want to, especially after normal banking hours. Offering your customer the convenience and reliability of an ATM machine can offer you the opportunity to increase your bottom line and profit margin. If consumers have more cash, they spend more cash.

Up to 20% of the money withdrawn from an ATM is spent in the store it was withdrawn from, according to one study. Having an ATM machine in your store can increase your sales and in turn increase your profits because TMS does not collect surcharges.
ATM Machines at TMS:
  • Complete ATM processing
  • Guaranteed up-time
  • Internet access to transaction activity
  • Online monthly statements and service reports
  • Signage for maximum exposure
  • 24/7 customer service and technical support
  • State-of-the-art cash machines available
  • You keep 100% of surcharges
  • Increase customer loyalty
  • Special financing available
  • Encourage spending
  • Increase store traffic
  • Generate extra revenue
How does an ATM Machine transaction work?
  1. The customer inserts their bankcard in the ATM and requests a withdrawal.

  2. The ATM dials a toll-free number to contact the appropriate network which then contacts the customer's financial institution.

  3. The customer's funds are verified by his financial institution.

  4. If funds are verified, the transaction is approved and the customer receives cash from the ATM.

  5. The withdrawal amount and the surcharge are debited from the customer's account.

  6. The transaction is processed through the Federal Reserve's automated clearing house.

  7. Both the surcharge and the withdrawal amount are electronically deposited in the ATM owner's account.
How much revenue can I expect to make from my ATM machine?
The amount of revenue that you can expect to make from your ATM depends on the amount of foot traffic at your location on a daily basis. Typically, 3%-5% of the foot traffic that actually sees your ATM machine will use it. As an example, say you have 200 people a day coming through your doors, or 6,000 a month, and you charge a $2.50 surcharge per valid withdrawal. If you estimate that 4% of those people will use your ATM, you could estimate that your ATM machine will generate a minimum of 240 transactions per month. That would bring in revenue of $600 per month or $7,200 per year. That is just from one ATM at one location.
Gift and Loyalty Cards
Gift cards serve to enhance brand awareness for your product or service while also being an excellent source of additional revenue for your company. Customized with your business name, gift cards act as a constant reminder of your brand, serving as a miniature ‘billboard’ in your customer’s wallet. Gift card balances decline as the card is used which helps to encourage repeat visits and limits the amount of cash refunds given. They also offer a more convenient alternative to paper gift certificates. TMS also offers customized loyalty cards for your business. One study has shown that companies can increase revenues by nearly 50% by retaining only 5% of their customer base. Loyalty card programs offer the perfect solution for helping to retain your most loyal customers. Loyalty cards reward customers for their purchases, giving them a compelling reason to choose your business over another and keep coming back. They also allow you to track the purchaser’s behavior and capture a customer profile for use in market research. Unlike paper gift certificates, gift and loyalty cards have no value until you activate them at the register.
